North America’s Best Ski Resort? Usa Today Readers Choose Winter Park

The Denver Post Reports:

Steamboat’s Double Diamond Bar touted for continent’s best après-ski fun.

Winter Park is North America’s best ski resort and Steamboat’s Double Diamonds Bar has the continent’s best après-ski scene, according to USA Today’s annual list of top resorts and best amenities published on Friday.

Two Colorado cross country ski areas only eight miles apart in Grand County top the list of Nordic centers with Devil’s Thumb coming out No. 1 and Snow Mountain Ranch No. 2. The Breckenridge Nordic Center came out at No. 7.

Two other Colorado destinations make the list of top ski resorts with Copper Mountain at No. 5 and Telluride at No. 6. Results were based on four weeks of voting by USA Today readers.

Of Winter Park, USA Today said: “The 3,081 acres of terrain at Winter Park is divided into seven distinct territories – glade skiing in Eagle Wind Territory, bowls in Parsenn Bowl, jumps and jibs in Terrain Park Territory, steeps and deeps in Cirque, the bumps of Mary Jane, black diamonds of Winter Park and the powder stashes of Vasquez Ridge.
